Description

Here is a rare gem made in Italy from the mid-late 1960s – a Goya 103R full hollowbody electric, all-original in wonderful playing condition in a deep red, gloss finish. These were student models designed to emulate a Gibson ES-275-type jazz guitar but with a more utilitarian bolt-on neck and light construction. The workmanship, however, is that of a higher-priced model. All mahogany body and three-piece neck construction with gloss finish. The neck profile is very similar to a Guild Starfire IV interestingly enough – substantial enough for chunky Gibson fans but slim enough for players on that side of the spectrum. Full 24 1/2″ scale with 20 thin frets, 1 3/4″ body depth. Carefully-crafted, adjustable rosewood bridge. A single extra-sensitive Goya-design neck pickup with remarkable output and tonal dynamics. Similar in tone to that of a Guild or Gibson hollowbody. In excellent playing condition with low action, great intonation, functional truss rod, no buzzing/dead spots, minimal fretwear, clean electronics and functional tuners. Shows signs of age/wear and tear but nothing too scary. The pickup mounting plate shows corrosion, there are lacquer cracks throughout the body, a missing pickguard and some wear on the tuners. Overall nothing to write home about and in amazing shape for its age and obscurity. Extremely light and a joy to behold!
