Front End Customer Service

Mill River Music is hiring for a Front End Customer Service position at our new location in Northampton!

Job Parameters and Requirements

  • Part time up to 24 hours per week to start (potential for more)
  • 4-6 hr shifts during our open hours
  • Year Round Availability
  • Start Time: ASAP. We expect several rounds of interviews and meetings
  • The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and positive person who wants to share their knowledge and experience with our music community. They have a strong work ethic and commitment to our team, customers, and community, and will convey the values and the experience of the store to a diverse range of customers. This person is comfortable working in a busy environment and manages multiple tasks and people with grace.
  • This is not meant to be an entry position to other positions- we are looking for someone with this specific skill set who wants to excel at it.

Skills/ Knowledge/ Experience

  • General knowledge of guitars and the instruments we sell
  • Guitar Playing Experience highly preferred- keys, drums, or other gear we sell is also welcome
  • General Computer skills (familiarity with some or most of Google suite, Lightspeed POS, Airtable helpful)
  • Cashier Skills
  • Customer Service experience
  • Amazing people skills and communication
  • Phone Skills
  • Sense of humor
  • Enthusiasm and love for people, music, and gear
  • Ability to reflect our values and deliver great customer service to a diverse group of customers

Tasks/ Responsibilities

  • Greet customers & orient them to the next needed zone/person/dept
  • Main Cashier – generally remains in/around check-in/out zone
  • String and accessories sales
  • General Retail, restocking when it’s slow enough, etc
  • Preferably 6 hour shifts on 3-4 days per week
  • Light/easy repair intake (when no one else is free)
  • Looking things up to answer customer questions
  • Light cleaning/vacuuming
  • Opening/closing procedures
  • Sales Team support
