Used, in good condition - Martin EM-18 Solidbody Electric c. 1978-1979. Serial number 3063. A unique offering from Martin that was their attempt at producing a solidbody electric design to compete in the booming guitar market of the time. They didn't stick around long and production lasted for only a few years with less than 1400 made, but the result was a killer, doublecut offset, set neck design reminiscent of an Alembic or similar of the time. The body is constructed of maple and the neck is mahogany with a beautiful 'D" shape and rosewood fingerboard, 1-5/8" nut width. Original brass nut. Original tuners. Truss rod is working as it should with the neck straight, no backbow etc. Despite its appearance the guitar is not truly 'neck thru' but a traditional set neck joint.
The original Dimarzio pickups are hot and wired in with some versatile tone controls - two volume and two tone controls with separate switches for coil tapping and phase settings. This particular EM-18 has a repaired headstock split as well as a stress crack behind the nut (see photos for detail). These were repaired by a competent tech and appear to be stable. Otherwise, the guitar has received a pro fret dressing and is playing very nicely a hair above standard electric spec. The original 3-way toggle switch was replaced (original switch included in the case for collectibility).
Included is a vintage Teardrop-style hardshell case in very good condition. Weight is 7lbs 14 oz.
