Used, in good condition - Vintage 5 String Open Back Banjo. Recently restrung and playing well with a nice tone! Overall weight is a light 4lb 8oz. We may be looking at a Lyon and Healy student model from the early 1900s, but there are no maker marks. Action is set slightly higher than Deering spec, but plays fine for clawhammer style. Has a replacement 5th string tuner, new synthetic head, and likely a new bridge. Its had some screws placed through the pot and into the bottom of the neck, likely in an attempt to bring down the action. The dowel stem was shimmed as well as the front edge of the neck. None of this work was done here. It has a couple chips missing from the back of the peghead and lots of wear on the fretboard. Otherwise, it is in great shape for an instrument that is over 100ish years old. Selling AS-IS with an old chipboard case.
